John Powell, 39, was charged with three counts of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of misconduct involving weapons in the second degree, three counts of assault in the third degree and three counts of reckless endangerment. In an earlier arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Powell allegedly opened fire on a Homer couple and a snowmachiner April 5, 2001 near Lookout Mountain.
His trial was originally scheduled last July, but was postponed until Oct. 15, 2001. Two more trial dates were postponed as well. Powell is being held at the Cook Inlet Pre-Trial Facility in Kenai in lieu of $500,000 bail.
