  • In a special session, the Alaska Legislature managed to salvage the Kachemak Bay State Park buyback by adding the complicated land dispute with the Seldovia Native Association to the $792 million capital projects bill. But Gov. Walter Hickel is not looking favorably on the plan.

  • A recall effort begun the week before to remove City Councilwoman Mary Henry from office is invalid because the misconduct alleged lacked sufficient details, the city attorney said. The recall effort alleged that Henry tried to influence City Manager C.E. Swackhammer to fire Port and Harbor Manager Spike Christopher.
