California woman still leads derby



STAFF REPORT

After a shuffling of lead positions in the Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby's first two weeks, last week's four top contenders are still on the board.

Maintaining her overall first place and keeping the top spot in the lady angler competition for the month is Dixie Lee Micke of Terra Bella, Calif., with a 138.2-pound lunker. She caught the fish while fishing with Captain Chuck Hanshaw aboard a private boat, the Real Fun Sr.

Other May standings:

• Second place: 120.8-pound halibut caught May 2 by Shane Brooks of Homer;

• Third place: 90.2-pound halibut caught May 1 by is Jean Manson of Greenfield, Calif.;

• Fourth place: 88.4-pound halibut caught May 8 by RaeAnn Hebnes of Anchorage.
