Artists are visionaries

In her recent letter to the editor in the Homer News, I think Asia Freeman is absolutely right. Homer will always be a richer, happier and more welcoming and dynamic place because of the arts.

I also think art does a lot more then just inspire and carry us into new realms of existence. It also shows us the inner heart and soul of people who have the courage to "expose themselves" in public by creating original art.

When an artist exposes himself/herself through the creation of art, we become more enlightened. We might even stop and reflect for a moment on how we see the world around us.

Art is a reflection of life ... and life is a reflection of art. Thank goodness there is a beautiful, cosmic place called Homer where both sides of that reflection are welcomed and encouraged.

Artists also are visionaries. They can help transform the entire world into a place where there is unconditional love and peace for every man, woman and child.

When you create an original piece of art, you are contributing to the greater good of humanity. You are helping us answer important questions as we approach the next step in our human evolution. You are the gentle ones who can see us through any dark moments of greed and corruption.

If you are an artist, then you are the future. And I believe in you ... especially if you are living in Homer, Alaska.
