Winners announced for Homer Cleanup Day




The Homer Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center's annual cleanup day, held this year on May 5, resulted in 1,338 bags of trash being collected, 239 of them for recycling, according to Nyla Lightcap, cleanup day coordinator and visitor center manager. Winners in each of five categories received Homer bucks, plus additional prizes. Following are winners in the event's five different categories:

Family

• First place: the Wulfs;

• Second place: the Browns;

• Third place: the Hattons.

Individual youth

• First place: Sara Wolf;

• Second place: Galen Lyon;

• Third place: Michael Koontz.

Individual adult>

• First place: Shirley Fedora.

Top recycler

• First place: HOWL;

• Second place: Cub Scout Pack 555;

• Third place: Shirley Fedora.

Group

• First place: HOWL;

• Second place: Cub Scouts Pack 555;

• Third place: Boy Scouts Troop 555.
