Hislop was born Nov. 19, 1929 in Little Fork, Minn. In the late 1930s his family moved to Anchorage, where he lived most of his life. He was a high school graduate from Anchorage High School and retired from Anchorage Refuse in June 1990. He loved to hunt. His family said, "He was a big man loved by so many as a husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will live on forever in the thousands of hearts he touched."
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Hislop; foster children Angel Scalph and Gracie Satterwhite; children, Steven Hislop and family, Kathy Taylor and family, Judy Kelsch and family, Melvin Hislop and family, Dennis Hislop and family, Michelle Hislop and family; step-children, Gwenn Pineda and family, Rodney Hoeldt and family, Robert Hoeldt and family, Randy Hoeldt and family, Leroy Hoeldt and family; sister, Vi. Dunlap and family; nieces and nephews, Debbie Bowles and family, Diana Lyons and family, Donald Lyons and family, Gary Deeter and family, Janelle Fleming and family, Darlene Deeter and family; and a host of lifetime friends.
