Homer High School juniors put on another successful prom on April 20. The past few months have passed by quickly due to the massive amount of work that is needed to put on a prom.
I would like to thank the following people for their time, generosity, creativity and cooperation in helping the junior class put together the prom: Homer Elks Lodge for allowing us to use their facilities during a very busy time for them; Ulmer's Drug and Hardware for its support and help in ordering decorations, and a special thanks to Merry for her patience and tremendous amount of help and for allowing us to use her personal tools to decorate for prom; Bear Claw Bakery for making two great cakes; Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce for lending us much-needed decorating materials; Kenai High School for sharing their decorations; our junior class advisers, Terri Hoeft, Gordon Pitzman and Todd Phillips for helping us through the planning process and supervising all the work, as well as the prom itself; and the Homer Emblem Club for donating $300 to help us with the cost of renting the Elks Lodge.
Last, but definitely not least, I would like to give an extra special thanks to all the parents too numerous to name who gave their time and energy. Without these parents, I don't think prom would have been such a success. Because of everyone listed, prom turned out to be exceptional. There were many others who helped, and to all of them we say thanks. And a big thanks to all of Homer and everyone who supports Homer High School events.
