Longtime Homer resident Terry Overton, 57, died unexpectedly on May 2, 2011, with his longtime friend, Marlaina, at his side. Terry was born Dec. 3, 1953, in Fresno, Calif., the second of four boys.

Terry moved to Homer in 1985, working for the Public Works Department as the city foreman. He retired in August of 2010. A dedicated employee, Terry served well beyond the duties of his employment for 26 years.

A friend wrote, "A valued member of the Homer community, Terry will be greatly missed. Many lives have been enriched for having known him. Farewell, dear friend, and be at peace."
