Artists offer students feedback

We'd like to offer a sincere thank you to Homer's community of artists who supported the West Homer Elementary School Art Fair during May's First Friday, as well as everyone who came to view the artwork and provided many great comments about the quality of the students' work and presentations.

Our gym was converted into an art gallery where every student displayed a favorite piece of artwork they had created over the past year, along with an artist statement. The following artists spent their Friday afternoon providing written feedback for all students: Annette Bellamy, Steve Panarelli, Kathy Sarns, Suzanne Singer Alvarez, Deland Anderson, Celia Quinn, Cynthia Morelli, Maygen Jannetta, Karin Marks, Catie Bursch, Carla Klinker-Cope, Ruby Haig, Leslie Klaar, Maura Brenin, Anna Raupp, Ann Margret Wimmerstedt, Marjorie Scholl, Deb Lowney and Nadya Klingel.

In the end, each student artist received positive feedback for their efforts from two professional artists. Students also heard positive comments during the evening as they shared their art with family and friends. What a powerful validation of our youth as creative artists.
