Marjorie Katsekures

May 27, 1920-April 28, 2012

Longtime Anchor Point resident, Marjorie Katsekures, 92, formerly of Fairbanks, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Majestic View Assisted Living Center in Homer.

Marjorie was born May 27, 1920, in Colfax, Wash. She attended schools in north central Washington, obtaining her teaching degree. She was employed as an elementary teacher, followed as a postal employee until 1951, when she moved to Fairbanks with her family. She continued her postal employment until retiring from civil service in 1974. She continued working at North Star Terminal in Fairbanks, retiring in 1977.

Mrs. Katsekures was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Katsekures, at her retirement home in Vista, Calif. She then returned to Alaska and resided in Anchor Point.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Dennis Douglas; grandchildren, Lee Douglas of Mesa, Ariz., Mike Douglas of Sagel, Idaho; and five great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
