The city of Homer Planning and Zoning Office extends an invitation to attend "Homer's Sign Code Simplified," a free sign workshop. The workshops are less than an hour long and brown-bag lunch style. A workshop is at noon p.m. May 15 at the Homer Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center conference room. Topics to be discussed include: changes to Homer's sign code; effective signage; tips to save money on signage; sign allowance per building; sign size and height; font style, size and legibility; sandwich boards; what's not allowed in Homer; banners; digital instant message systems and art within signage. People unable to attend the workshop can schedule an appointment for sign review and permitting.
