Swim-a-Thon success
Dear Editor,

Thanks go to everyone who gave such community-wide support to the annual Kachemak Swim Club Swim-a-Thon fund-raiser. While raising money for the team, the swimmers enjoyed a festive party, including great food and a sleepover. Business organizations, family and friends of the club pledged financial support, and large numbers of volunteers contributed to the event's success. Subway of Homer, Don Jose's, Starvin' Marvin's, Fat Rack Pizza, Captain's coffee and McDonald's all contributed to the six-hour buffet along with the parent volunteers who shared homemade dishes and maintained "herding" duties over the food. Six overnight parent volunteers enabled the team sleepover. Thanks also to the volunteer lifeguards for the private open swim. Many local businesses contributed incentive prizes for the kids, including Chain Reaction Sports, Homer Saw, Solstice Music and Barb's Video.

Most of all, we want to thank the KSC Swim Team members, who are truly a great group of kids!. Thanks for your hard work and year-long dedication to the Kachemak Swim Club.

Rita Turner and Frank Zellin
