If you enjoy running barefoot through freshly mown grass, Homer has five municipal parks. The smallest, Bayview Park, is at the top of Main Street and has facilities just right for kids. Karen Hornaday Memorial Park, next to the campground on Fairview Avenue, has covered picnic tables and a grill, with ballfields next door. There is also a new playground, built by community volunteers and the city.

Benjamin Walters Memorial Park is behind McDonald's off Lake Street. It includes a boardwalk leading across the marsh to the lake shore and a gazebo with a barbecue pit. Jeffery Park, on Ben Walters Lane behind Lakeside Mall, has playground equipment and picnic tables.

WKFL Park, at the corner of Pioneer Avenue and Heath Street, is Homer's newest park. A small field of mowed grass with a gazebo, it is a good place to rest during your downtown tour, enjoy a picnic lunch, or just sit and enjoy the sun.
