Scholarships
Icicle Seafoods Inc. of Homer will grant three $500 scholarships to help defray the cost of a first year of schooling to any graduating student from Ninilchik, Anchor Point, Seldovia and Homer. Interested students need to submit a cover letter and resume, with references to their school counselors. Applicants do not have to be "A" or "B" students to be considered. Applications must be submitted to school counselors by May 9. Personal interviews will be conducted; applicants will be notified of the date and place of interview.
The International Pacific Halibut Commission funds several merit scholarships in support of university and technical college education. Generally, a single $2,000 scholarship per year is awarded and is renewable annually for a four-year period of an undergraduate education, subject to maintenance of satisfactory academic performance. The Homer Chamber of Commerce has awarded two $500 scholarships and one $500 Brother Asaiah scholarship to the following 2008 high school graduates who had above-average grades and had shown significant community involvement:

Youth Conservation Corps
Kenai National Wildlife Refuge is accepting applications for eight summer Youth Conservation Corps jobs. Applications are at Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Applications must be received at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters on Ski Hill Road in Soldotna by close of business May 9. Elections seeks high school students
The Youth Vote Ambassador Program assists Alaska Division of Elections by providing election poll workers. Youth Vote Ambassadors must be at least 16 and a high school student in good standing, they must be recommended by their counselor or principal, have written permission from a parent or legal guardian and submit an application.
