Sponsored by the Alaska Division of Forestry and the Kenai Peninsula Borough, the contest is open to children in grades kindergarten through fifth.
Three categories are open: Little Spotters, kindergarten-first grade; Little Jumpers, second and third grade; and Junior Hot Shots, fourth and fifth grade.
Winners in each category receive public recognition, and posters will be used in murals, educational materials or as placemats. Grand-prize winners win an iPod Shuffle.
The deadline is May 16, with winners announced May 23. Artwork can be between 8.5-by-11-inches and 16-by-22-inches and on stiff paper or cardboard. Art should include the artist's full name, age, grade level, school, student's address and student's phone number in the upper left corner.
