The Alaska Marine Safety Education Association will offer a U.S. Coast Guard approved fishing vessel safety and drill conductor course May 12-13 at the Best Western Bidarka Inn. Cost is $175 for the public, $125 AMSEA members and is free for licensed commercial fishermen. To register, call (888) 508-3287 or (907) 747-3287. For information, call 235-5955.

The American Red Cross of Alaska will hold Disaster Response Training classes to teach community volunteers the necessary knowledge and skills to provide emergency relief at the scene of a disaster. Classes will be from 6-9 p.m. May 16 and from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. May 17 -18 at City Hall Council Chambers. Free. Call (907) 646-5401.

There will be an ADIS class May 16-18. Call 235-6152.
