The Mariner JV Softball Team collects trash on Heath Street and around the high school during Homer Cleanup Day last Saturday.

The Homer Chamber of Commerce reports this year's annual cleanup day was a huge success with 722 bags of trash brought into the chamber's parking lot last Saturday, 88 of the bags containing recyclable materials.

Among the many things brought in were a few mattresses and a bunch of tires and tire rims. All participants were treated to free hot dogs thanks to the Kachemak Bay Lions Club and beverages from Pepsi and Coca-Cola.
