A celebration of life gathering in honor of Alysha Mathewson will be held at 6 p.m. on May 9 at Bishop's Beach. For more information, call Mary at 235-4046.

The Community Health Improvement Plan will be unveiled at a celebration held 10 a.m. to noon on Friday upstairs at the Kachemak Bay Campus. MAPP (Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnership) of the Southern Kenai Peninsula Communities invites the public, to see the community in action. The Kachemak Bay Research Reserve is looking for a new member to serve on our nine-member Community Council. The council is a great opportunity to become involved and learn more about what staff at the Kachemak Bay Research Reserve (KBRR) are doing in and around our bay. The council provides an organized structure for dialogue and recommendations between the reserve and our local communities.

A clothing drive to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Homer will be held noon-6 p.m. on May 14 and 15 at Ulmer's. Drop off adult and kid clothes, bedding, towels, hats, gloves and coats. The Kenai Watershed Forum is accepting applications from local artists and food vendors for booth space at the Kenai River Festival on June 10, 11 and 12 at Soldotna Creek Park in downtown Soldotna. Space is limited. Visit www.kenaiwatershed.org for more information and application.

Kachemak Kids Early Learning Center, a nonprofit organization, will hold its annual "garage sale" fundraiser on May 21. Drop off donation items at Kachemak Kids or at NOMAR 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday or call Jen Hakala at 299-0844 to arrange a pickup.
