Hospice of Homer will hold a fund-raiser raffle for a painting by Byron Birdsall. Tickets, $10, are available at the Art Shop Gallery from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday and from 1-5:45 p.m. May 3. Community members are invited to watch Birdsall paint at the gallery during those times. The raffle drawing will be at 5:45 p.m. May 3 at the gallery. Ticket holders need not be present to win. Kachemak Bay Quilters is seeking quilts for a quilt show. Drop quilts off at Seams to Bee on Ocean Drive from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. May 5-6. Entry forms are available at Seams to Bee; fee is $1. The show will be held from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. May 10 and from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 11 at the Homer Elks Lodge.

Downward Dog Productions presents Bruce Cockburn in concert at 7 p.m. May 7 at the Mariner Theatre. Tickets, $36, are available at the Homer Bookstore, the Homer Chamber of Commerce, Solstice Music and www.inticketing.com.

Mavis Muller will teach a beginning basketry class to celebrate the birds' return from noon-4 p.m. May 9 and 11 at 58335 Cranewings Court, 4.5 Mile East End Road. Participants ages 9-90 years will view cranes while weaving nest-like baskets using natural materials. Cost is $35, including materials. To register, call 235-5132.
