The Girl Scouts Susitna Council's benefit luncheon for Girl Scouts of Homer has been postponed and rescheduled for Sept. 26. To receive an invitation, call 235-7740 or e-mail tina@homeralaska.org.

The Kenai Peninsula United Way is accepting applications for new member agencies. To qualify for admission an agency must have a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, have been in operation on the peninsula for at least two years, have an elected board of directors and provide a health and human service not offered by another local member agency. Deadline is Friday. Call 283-9500.

The Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward will hold a 10th anniversary community party May 3. Alaska residents with identification will be admitted free all day and on the 10th day of every month through 2008. The center will host an open house and celebration with guest speakers, food and entertainment from 3-7 p.m. Call 1 (800) 224-2525.

Applications for the Kachemak Bay Shorebird Amateur Photo Contest are available at NOMAR, Eagle Eye Photo and Homer Chamber of Commerce. Deadline is 6 p.m. May 5. Call 235-8363, e-mail nomar@xyz.net.

Seldovia Village Tribe will hold Women's Health Night from 7-9 p.m. May 9 at the Seldovia Conference Center. Call 234-7898 ext. 230.

Seldovia Village Tribe will hold a Community Health Fair from 8 a.m.-noon May 10 at the Seldovia Conference Center. Tests available include a chemistry and hematology profile, $40, before which participants must fast for 12 hours; thyroid screening, $30; prostate disease screening, $25; and HIV screening, blood pressure, vision, height and weight, free.

There will be a benefit for Cary and Dina Rayburn at 3 p.m. May 10 at the American Legion, including a turkey supper, silent auction and homemade pie auction. Proceeds go toward medical expenses. For information or to donate, call 235-8864.

ACS will hold a town meeting from 6-8 p.m. May 15 at the Best Western Bidarka Inn. There will be an overview of the company's fiber-optic cable construction project, currently underway. Call (907) 297-3115.

The Salvation Army will hold a 50 percent off sale from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. May 12.

There will be a United Way Fox Island dinner cruise and auction from 3:30-9:30 p.m. May 17. The event includes a sightseeing cruise, dinner, no-host bar and outcry and silent auctions. Tickets, $50 per person or $500 per corporate-sponsored table, are available at the United Way office in Kenai and at the Homer News. Proceeds benefit the Kenai Peninsula United Way. The City of Homer Port and Harbor has installed a new weather station at the deep-water dock. Reports from the weather station, updated every few minutes, are available at port.ci.homer.ak.us.

The Homer Boys and Girls Club is holding registration for its summer sessions. Children must have completed the first grade. Cost is $20 for a new membership and $200 per session for a full day program, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. A healthy lunch and snack is provided daily.
