Anchor Point wrestlers place at state tournament




Anchor Kings Wrestling Club competitors excelled at the Alaska USA state wrestling meet.

Luciano Fasulo, novice 70, took fourth place in the folkstyle tournament on Thursday. Jadzia Martin, school boy/girl 91, took fifth and Raeden Mendes, school boy/girl 120, took fifth.

Two Anchor Kings girls won championships on Friday: Jadzia Martin, school girl 91, and Diana Gaedecke, school girl 84, who retained her title for the third year in a row.

Martin will join Team Alaska for the West Kids and Cadets Regional Tournament in Idaho in June. Raeden Mendes took fifth place in the Greco-Roman tournament.

Eight of the 13 wrestlers who competed in the freestyle tournament on Saturday brought home medals. Jae Spence, novice 140, took first place. Samuel Mireles, school boy 144, took second. Luciano Fasulo, novice 70, Halen Ryland, intermediate 80, and Wyatt Harshfield, school boy 152, took sixth.
