A 4.6 magnitude earthquake hit lower Cook Inlet and Kachemak Bay about 50 miles southwest of Homer at 11:29 a.m. Monday morning. According to the West Coast Alaska Tsunami Warning Center, because of the magnitude, no tsunami was generated. The earthquake occurred at a depth of about 40 miles.
