Soldotna resident, Mr. Forrest Bud Kinder, 78, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, in Soldotna. Memorial services were at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Soldotna Church of Christ. Minister Tony Cloud officiated.

Mr. Kinder was born Oct. 9, 1933, in Putnam County, W. Va. After he graduated from high school he attended two years of college at the Institute in Nitro, W. Va. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and received a Korean Service Medal. He moved to Alaska in 1971, living in Anchor Point and Soldotna. When he moved to Alaska he worked in Homer at Spenard Builder Supply for three years. Later he worked on the Alaska pipeline and in general construction and was a carpenter. He was a member of the Soldotna Church of Christ.

The family wrote: Bud was a hard working, extremely devoted Christian husband, father and grandpa. He was always willing to help a friend or stranger in need. Smiling and singing he demonstrated Gods love and saving grace to all he encountered. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by parents, Birdie and Cass Kinder, and brother, Ron Kinder. He is survived by his wife, Harriet Kinder of Soldotna; sons, Gilbert Kinder and wife, Sue of Soldotna, and Randy Kinder and wife, Julia of Anchor Point; daughters, Kimberly Johnson and husband, Ezra of Soldotna, Diana Drake and husband, Andre of Anchor Point, Linda Nehren and husband, Jim of Anchor Point, and Terri Jones and companion Dennis Ferris of Huntington, W. Va.; sisters, Adoree Laughlin of Titusville, Fla., Sona Faye Davis of Sandyville, W. Va., and Willadean Tallman and husband, Jim of Leroy, W. Va.; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were Peninsula Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
