Nate Raymond winds up a 400-meter race on the Homer track last Friday.
Shrugging off a raw wind and chilly rain, eight boys and girls raced and jumped at Homer High School on Friday of last week to help raise money for the track and field team. Considering the weather and short notice for the first-time event, coach Tari Hoeft was pleased with the turnout and plans a similar event "when the weather gets a little drier."

Contributing $5 for one event or $10 in four of the fun competitions, the team raised $80 to help get needed equipment, Hoeft said.
