Walking to find cancer cure

I am a team member of a walking team for Homer Relay for Life, a fund raiser for cancer research and cancer cure. The annual relay will be held at the Homer High School track June 10 and 11. The track is a quarter mile long, and I am asking for donations. I will walk for $10 a mile. That means I will walk four times around the track for every mile donated.

The program sells paper sacks to use as luminaria to honor cancer survivors and remember those who have died of cancer. I personally have three luminaries: one for my brother, Glenn, who died of lung cancer; one for my sister, Connie, who was a breast cancer and colon cancer survivor and who later died of lymph cancer; and a third one for my cousin, Joanne, who is a cancer survivor. Luminaria sacks are sold for $5 a piece. If you want to purchase one, I will decorate it and place it around the track for you.

Please make checks out to "The American Cancer Society" and mail them to me at 4001 El Sarino Court, Homer, AK 99603.
