Homer Alaska - Letters

The Kachemak Nordic Ski Club would like to thank the Compass Rose Fund and the Designated Recreation Fund at the Homer Foundation for the generous support provided for the purchase of additional grooming equipment for the ski club. The money provided by this grant was used to help fund the purchase of a Ginzu Groomer from Yellowstone Track Systems. This machine is being used to groom the ski trails at the Lookout Mountain cross country ski area.

It greatly increases the ability of the club to provide groomed ski trails in the wide variety of conditions that the Homer area experiences. The Lookout Mountain area has undergone major trails improvements in the last several years. The expanded trail system has resulted in many of our events and programs as well as most of the middle and high school ski races being held at this area. This has led to the need for additional grooming equipment to provide the excellent skiing residents of Homer as well as winter visitors have come to expect.

This trail system provides cross country skiing opportunities for all, from beginning skiers to experienced racers. We invite everyone to come out and experience the excellent groomed trails that our volunteers are able to provide with the help of the equipment obtained through projects such as this.
