Kenai Peninsula Borough SChool District


April 24: School board meeting, Soldotna, 7 p.m.

Graduation Corrections:

Homer Middle School does not hold an eighth-grade graduation, and has not for several years. It will have a Year End Celebration, where all students are recognized for their achievements and Dr. Allan Gee from Homer High School will address the school and welcome the incoming freshman students.

Voznesenka School will hold an eighth- and 12th-grade graduation at 6 p.m. May 17 at McNeil Canyon Elementary School. The place was incorrectly reported in the April 12 edition of the Homer News.

April 30-May 4: Grades 3-4, swimming in Homer, 1-2 p.m.


April 24: Grades 7-10 participate in a six-hour oceanography field trip on Kachemak Bay aboard the Rainbow connection. The trip is sponsored by the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies. Cost is $65 and pre-registration is required and now open.

Enrollment for new and returning Connections students for the 2012-2013 school year is currently underway. Call the office at 226-1880 to make an enrollment appointment. Kindergarten students must be five years old by Sept. 1. All kindergarten students and students new to the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District must bring a photocopy of their birth certificate to the appointment.

Fireweed Academy, Grades 3-6

April 20: Caring for the Kenai finalist presentation with Fireweed Academy alumni Katie Kirsis, Dylan Faulkner and Maggie Larue, 8:45 a.m.

Parents are invited to join their child and the principal for lunch at 11:25 a.m.
