Support paves way for exploring bay

As the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies gets ready to dive into the spring education season we would like to extend a huge thank you to the people who have gone the extra mile to get everything ready in time for the first visiting school group to arrive. Thanks to the Boy Scouts Troop 555 and the handful of volunteers who spent the weekend at the Peterson Bay Field Station shoveling snow, breaking ice and giving the inside a nice, fresh coat of paint donated by Re-Store in Anchorage. A donated bed, a newly made bed frame and volunteer help to clean and prepare our staff living quarters completed our preparations. Thanks also to financial support from Wells Fargo, Alaska USA, the Stacey Studebaker Fund and the JiJi Foundation that allows us to continue to offer quality hands-on outdoor science-based education to the students of Homer and beyond. Its going to be an exciting, busy spring full of learning and exploring in Kachemak Bay.
