Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival

The 20th Annual Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival will be May 10-13. The schedule of events and registration is available online at homeralaska.org/shorebird.htm. Registration has started, with some events already sold out and others close to filling, so those planning to attend the festival who havent yet registered should do so soon.

The keynote speaker is George Archibald of the International Crane Foundation. Feature writer Mark Obmascik, author of The Big Year, speaks on how his book became a movie.

Many events are free, open to everyone and do not require registration, like the shorebird viewing stations and most of the talks. Paying the registration fee allows festival organizers to continue to offer many low cost and free events this year and in years to come. For more information, call the chamber at 235-7740.
