  • Spike Christopher fought last week to keep his job as port and harbor manager, telling the City Council he was treated unfairly when he was fired over allegations he circumvented city policy on buying computers.
  • On his last day as city manager, C.E. Swackhammer advised his successor to "be thick-skinned and take time away from work." He said dissension on the City Council made his 22 months in office difficult.
