Facebook workshop set for April 17; space limited

The Homer Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Kachemak Bay Campus will offer a free four-hour Facebook workshop. The event will be from 1-5 p.m. April 17 at KBC. It will be led by Jhasmine Lamb of the Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council. It will take participants from the basics to marketing their brand and working with Facebook's advertising and business solutions help center. Special performance part of April 26 chamber mixer

The next Homer Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center mixer will be from 5-7 p.m. April 26 at the chamber and visitor center, 201 Sterling Highway. Hosting the mixer will be Alaska Ferry Adventures, the Mermaid Cafe and Bear Creek Winery. There will be a special performance by JoAnn & Monte. Door prizes include a round-trip for two between Homer and Anchorage donated by Era Alaska; two round-trip ferry tickets between Homer and Seldovia; $150 in gift certificates for the Mermaid Cafe; Kachemak Bay coffee table books, T-shirts and more.

Get to Know Homer event

scheduled for May 18

The Homer Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center will sponsor a free training session on all there is to know about Homer.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 at the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center auditorium.

The session is geared toward front-desk staff, retail employees, wait staff, drivers and other employees who want to be more knowledgeable about Homer during the summer visitor season.

The session will feature information about fishing, hiking trails, lodging, bear viewing, outdoor adventures, special events, art museums, places across Kachemak Bay and more.
