Homer Playground Project

There will be a HoPP-A-Thon on Saturday, April 21, from noon-2 p.m. for kids ages 12 years and under. This is a fund-raiser for the new playground at the Karen Hornaday Park. Kids are invited to get pledges for time hopped around a course in the high school gym. Any form of motion counts walk, skip, run, jump, hula hoop, hop as long as you keep moving. All kids who raise $50 or more will have their name permanently engraved on a picket in the new park.

The activity is part of the Safe Kids Fair, which runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on April 21. Children are invited to drop in any time between noon and 2 p.m. to participate in the HoPP-A-Thon. HoPP is the acronym for Homer Playground Project, a group of community volunteers organized for the purpose of a new playground at Karen Hornaday Park. This is the first time for children to be involved in raising the money for the park so far the fund drive has focused on adults and businesses

Pledge sheets and additional information for the HoPP-A-Thon are at www.homerplaygroundproject.org or call Derotha Ferraro at 235-1093.
