Homer Alaska - Letters

A belated, but heartfelt, thanks to the 120 skiers in marvelous costumes who made the Kachemak Nordic Ski Club's eighth annual Ski for Women such a fun event and successful fundraiser.

The creativity of our Homer skiers always amazes me, with skiing geishas, fly fisherwomen, escaped prisoners, football team and disco dancers showing up this year. With final contributions now in, we raised more than $2,800 to support Haven House programs.

We greatly appreciate the generous contributions of our grand prize sponsor, Era Aviation and costume prize sponsors: Homer Day Spa, Homer Saw and Cycle, Homer's Jeans, Ulmer's Chain Reaction Sports, Latitude 59, Fat Olives, Grog Shop and Kathee Kiefer. Many thanks to Two Sisters for cookies, McDonald's for water coolers and Jan Spurkland for the yummy pancakes. Mike Byerly and the KNSC crew provided a beautifully groomed course and our wonderful volunteers made everything work smoothly Wayne and Donna Aderholdt, Ken Jones, Nina Daley, Kathee Kiefer, Glen Chen, Josephine Ryan and Elizabeth Wasserman.
