American Legion Auxiliary Girls State and American Legion Boys State

Applications should be turned into school counselors by April 4. Check for applications at Homer Highs counselor office, Connections, Flex School, schools across the bay and at American Legion Post 16. Contact Darlene, 235-6789, or the post at 235-8864 for information and applications.

Pratt Museum Summer Interns

The Pratt Museum seeks high school interns to work from June 4-Aug. 10. Salary is $10 per hour, based on a 40-hour week. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. Friday. For applications and information, contact Ryjil Christianson, 235-8635 or email education@prattmuseum.org.

Youth Rally

Homer Electric Association is offering scholarships to the annual Youth Rally in Caldwell, Idaho. Applications are available at www.homerelectric.com. Deadline for entries is April 2.

Student scholarships available

The Alaska Community Foundation offers the $7,500 Neal O. Thorpe Memorial Scholarship to Alaska high school graduates who will be the first in their immediate family to attend a college or university and attending or planning to attend: Alaska Christian College, Soldotna; Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage; Concordia University, Portland, Ore.; Corban College, Salem, Ore.; George Fox University, Newberg, Ore.; Montana Bible College, Bozeman, Mont.; Multnomah University, Portland, Ore.; Northwest Nazarene, Nampa, Idaho; Northwest University, Kirkland, Wash.; Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, Wash.; Seattle Pacific University, Seattle, Wash.; Trinity Lutheran College, Everett, Wash.; University of Portland, Portland, Ore.; Warner Pacific College, Portland, Ore.; Whitworth University, Spokane, Wash. Deadline to apply for Homer American Legion Auxiliary Scholarships is April 12;

The Homer Foundation has applications available for: The Alain and Daniel Rieser Scholarship; Homer Community Science Scholarship; Health Care Providers Scholarship; Drew Scalzi Memorial Maritime Scholarship; Diane Wambach Shoot for the Stars Scholarship; Kachemak Bay Medical Clinic Scholarship; Beluga Tail / Tale Writing Scholarships. Applications may be requested via mail, phone or email, picked up at the Homer Foundation or Homer High School counselors office or downloaded from the foundations website at www.homerfund.org, click on forms. Deadline for all applications is 4 p.m. April 19.

The International Pacific Halibut Commission funds merit scholarships to support university, technical college and other port-secondary education. They must be received by June 29.

The Kachemak Board of Realtors awards scholarships to graduating seniors pursuing training in a vocational/technical field or a college degree. See school counselors for details or call Gina Pelaia at 235-6183 or 399-6183. Deadline is April 15.

The Kenai Borough Employees Association is accepting scholarship applications. Applications and instructions are available from any borough high school counselors office or on the web, www.borough.kenai.ak.us. Applications must be delivered or postmarked by March 30. Applications can be mailed or dropped off at the Kenai Peninsula Borough, KBEA Scholarship Committee, 144 N. Binkley St., Soldotna, AK 99669.

The Kachemak Bay Chapter of Alaska State Employees Association is offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from the Kachemak Bay area. The deadline is April 20. For information or scholarship applications, contact Carla Milburn or Marnee Beverage at 235-8191.

Ptarmigan Arts is seeking local junior and senior high school students to apply for the visual arts scholarship. Guidelines and applications are available at www.ptarmiganarts.com, as well as at the gallery, 471 E. Pioneer Ave. Deadline for submission is April 20.
