Children who will be 4 years old by Sept. 1 have an opportunity to attend pre-kindergarten classes this fall. To qualify, parents and guardians must contact the school in their area to schedule a pre-k assessment and complete an application prior to the school screening appointment. Pre-k applications are available from school offices or on the web at http://bit/ly/PreKapplication. Applications are to be returned to neighborhood schools. Once the completed application has been submitted, an assessment can be scheduled. Screening dates for the southern peninsula include: • Chapman School: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the school library, April 24; for information, call the school at 235-8671; • Paul Banks Elementary School: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the school library, May 9; for information, call the school at 226-1801.
