Marina Critchett, a 2008 Homer High School graduate attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks, recently honored as Engineering Student of the Year by the Alaska Society of Professional Engineers. The UAF faculty named Critchett Outstanding Geological Engineer Graduate for the class of 2012.

Ethan Martin of Homer has been named to the deans list at Pacific University in Oregon for fall semester 2011. To qualify, a student must achieve a term grade point average of 3.70 on a 4.00 scale and complete 12 or more graded hours.

Deadline for the Homer American Legion Auxiliary Scholarships are April 12;

The Homer Foundation has applications available for: The Alain and Daniel Rieser Scholarship; Homer Community Science Scholarship; Health Care Providers Scholarship; Drew Scalzi Memorial Maritime Scholarship; Diane Wambach Shoot for the Stars Scholarship; Kachemak Bay Medical Clinic Scholarship; Beluga Tail / Tale Writing Scholarships. Applications may be requested via mail, phone or email, picked up at the Homer Foundation or Homer High School counselors office or downloaded from the Foundations website at www.homerfund.org, click on forms. The deadline for all applications is 4 p.m. April 19.

The Kachemak Board of Realtors will award three $750 scholarships. See school counselor for application details or call Gina Pelaia at 235-6183 or 399-6183. Deadline for applying is April 15.

KBEA, the Kenai Borough Employees Association scholarship committee is accepting applications for three scholarships. Applications and instructions are available from any borough high school counselors office or at www.borough.kenai.ak.us. Applications must be delivered or postmarked by March 30. Applications can be mailed or dropped off at the Kenai Peninsula Borough, KBEA Scholarship Committee, 144 N. Binkley St., Soldotna, AK 99669.

The Kachemak Bay Chapter of Alaska State Employees Association is offering a scholarship in the amount of $500. The deadline for submitting the application is April 20. For information or applications, contact Carla Milburn or Marnee Beverage at 235-8191.
