Police warn of vehicle break-ins

Homer Police are warning car owners to lock their vehicles and not leave valuables. Over the past three weeks, thieves have entered unlocked and locked cars in the Soundview, Bayview and Mountainview Avenue areas. Last Saturday, thieves also broke into five cars at a longterm airport parking lot on Kachemak Drive. In that incident, officers investigating reports of break-ins found other vehicles also broken into. One witness on Soundview Avenue saw a couple rifling through a car.

"They're doing it fast, from what we can tell," Homer Police Chief Mark Robl said. "They're in and out and gone."

Police are investigating the break-ins, he said.
