HEA plans power outage on Spit, Halibut Cove

Homer Electric Association has scheduled a planned outage for the Homer Spit and Halibut Cove from 1-5 a.m. March 27.

The outage is necessary in order for HEA to perform required maintenance work on equipment that provides service to the Spit and Halibut Cove, according to an HEA press release. The time frame was chosen in an effort to minimize the impact on businesses that are open on the Spit.

HEA representatives have met with many of the businesses on the Spit to notify them of the outage and automated calls to HEA members in the outage area will be made prior to the event.

During the outage, residents in Seldovia, Port Graham and Nanwalek will be provided power via the Gerry Willard Generation Plant in Seldovia.

If you have questions regarding this scheduled outage, please contact HEA Operations Superintendent Brian Laleme at 235-3333.

AS ALWAYS, PLEASE TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT SENSITIVE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMNENT AND REMEMBER TO STAY AWAY FROM ANY DOWNED POWER LINE. THE LINES ARE VERY DANGEROUS AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IF CONTACT IS MADE. IF YOU SEE A DOWNED POWER LINE, LEAVE THE AREA AND PLEASE CALL HOMER ELECTRIC AT 1-888-8OUTAGE OR 1-888-868-8243.
