Grants awarded to area agencies




The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority has awarded more than $86,000 in grants for 11 projects in the state. The grants fund a wide range of projects and programs assisting individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, chronic alcoholism and other substance-related disorders, Alzheimer's disease and related dementia, and traumatic head injury resulting in permanent brain injury. Southern peninsula grantees include:

• Kenai Peninsula Housing Initiatives Inc., Homer: $5,000 to purchase furnishings for individual units and common areas for MainTree Supportive Housing;

• South Peninsula Behavioral Health Services Inc., Homer: $5,000 to purchase furnishings for common areas and the staff office for MainTree Supportive Housing;

• South Peninsula Haven House, Homer: $10,000 for training Trust beneficiaries and service providers in Morita and Naikan Therapy.
