Troopers make active warrants available online

The Alaska State Troopers have posted on the Web warrants of people wanted by troopers for felony and other crimes. Troopers request the public's help in providing information on wanted suspects. They ask that citizens do not take action beyond contacting local authorities.

People with information on wanted suspects can call troopers at 235-8239 or Homer Police at 235-3150. Tips can be made anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (800) 478-4258 (478-HALT).

People wanted by troopers wishing to turn themselves in should report to local police or troopers, where they will be escorted to the Department of Corrections to meet the requirements of the warrant, such as posting bail.

If a wanted subject cannot post bail, he or she will be taken before a judge within 24 hours for a hearing on the warrant. Troopers ask that wanted subjects bring photo identification with them.

The list of warrants is available at www.dps.state.ak.us/AST/warrants/ . Warrants for the Kenai Peninsula can be searched in the section for E Detachment. Warrants issued by the Homer District Court have the prefix HO-.

The oldest warrant is for Peter I. Kalugin, 35, wanted on a 1992 $1,000 warrant for failure to appear in court.
