With some people already signing up and making payment to receive natural gas and others being told it's too soon, Enstar's John Sims, manager of corporate communications and customer service, today clarified the process for the Homer News. "We have been accepting applications and payment for anyone along the trunk line and Kachemak City," said Sims. The trunk line is the line that will bring natural gas from Anchor Point to Kachemak City. "We have been accepting applications for people in the city of Homer, but not payment." The reason for not accepting payment from property owners within the Natural Gas Homer Special Assessment District at this point is that the city has not approved a contract with Enstar. Postponed at the Homer City Council's Feb. 25 meeting, Resolution 13-017(S), approving a construction agreement between the city and Enstar, is on Monday's city council agenda under "pending business." Until a contract is agreed upon, Sims said HSAD property owners can "come in and make application. We just might not accept payment until Monday when the city approves the contract." Patrick Lawrence is Enstar's new Homer rep. While the Homer office currently does not have regular hours, Lawrence can be contacted by calling 435-0635.
