Begich's comments appreciated

I want to thank the Homer News for publishing the excellent piece from Brett Veerhusen and Will Bishop about Sen. Begich's comments on Pebble Mine during a recent trip to Homer.

It's no secret that many of our families, friends and neighbors depend on a healthy Bristol Bay fishery for our income. It was good to hear Sen. Begich say that the ongoing scientific assessment of Pebble should continue. If the assessment finds that the mine would have significant adverse risks for salmon, it should not be allowed to proceed and the developers will be able to put this project behind them and move on.
