Paul Banks celebrates reading

The Paul Banks staff and students would like to say a huge thank you to the many parents, community members, and businesses that supported our recent read-a-thon and auction fundraiser. Prizes were donated by Timeless Toys, Homer Bookstore and Starvin Marvin's. The Paul Banks PTA helped us purchase many of the books that were given away at Bingo for Books.

The dunk tank, loaned to us by the American Legion and two deliveries by Hank's Water, allowed us to see Seadog Young walk the plank for a good dunking in celebration of exceeding our school reading goal. Enthusiasm for reading was overwhelming and more than 130,000 total minutes were read during the four-week period.

Many parents, community members and local businesses also sponsored readers and donated items to our auction. It is so nice to know that reading and education are so valued in our special community of Homer. We thank you.
