Troopers at 8:22 p.m. went to a single-vehicle motor crash near Mile 1.5 North Fork Road. Before arriving troopers allege the driver and a passenger fled, leaving behind an injured woman who had been ejected from the car when it rolled over. Troopers allege a 32-year-old Anchor Point man caused the crash when he entered a curve in a 2001 Honda Accord, skidded into a snow berm and rolled the car. A woman in the back seat not wearing a seat belt was thrown from the car.

Troopers got a search warrant for a home at Mile 11 North Fork Road and found the man hiding in a downstairs bedroom. Troopers arrested the man for DUI, refusal to submit to a chemical test, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, third-degree assault and violating probation. The man had been released earlier that day from Wildwood Corrections, Kenai, on supervised probation for other charges.

The suspect confronted them over a rock he said hit his car when the Anchor Point men passed him. The suspect drew a handgun and fired three shots at the victims, with one shot hitting the ground and the other shots going over their heads.

The men described the suspect as being Hispanic or a light-skinned African American, 25 to 30 years old, with short hair, a thin black mustache and wearing a ball cap. He drove a dark-blue 2009 or 2010 Chevrolet or GMC Blazer-type car with custom rims and tires and blue-white custom headlights. The men told troopers they believed the suspect fired a revolver.
