DDF-ers do 'amazingly well' at Service meet

Going toe to toe with 15 other schools, Homer High School's Drama, Debate and Forensics team did "amazingly well" at a meet at Service High School in Anchorage last weekend, said Coach Amy Christianson.

Team members earned awards for:

• First place, dramatic interpretation: Matthew Meyer;

• Second place, dramatic interpretation: Casey Parrett;

• First place, humorous interpretation: Theo Noomah;

• Second place, humorous interpretation: Johnny Hamilton;

• First place, duet acting: Sydney Paulino and Adi Davis;

• Second place, duet acting: Owen Duffy and Neal Wimmerstedt;

• First place, pantomime: Neal Wimmerstedt, Herman Hannan, Patrick Latimer;

• Third place, pantomime: Adella Sundmark and Theo Noomah;

• Fourth place, extemporaneous commentary: Jonas Noomah;

• Fourth place, solo acting: Owen Duffy;

• Fourth place, original oration: Adella Sundmark;

• Fourth place, duo interpretation: Jonas Noomah and Evan Boyer.

"I can say without a doubt that this is the most successful DDF team that Homer has ever had," said Christianson.

Members of the team headed to Anchorage on Wednesday to compete in the state DDF tournament this week.

"This is the first year that we have had more students qualified than the team limit of 15," said Christianson. "The students have worked very hard since the beginning of the year, and the community should all be very proud of how well they represent Homer High School at all of the tournaments."

Representing Homer are: Brittney Bordner, Evan Boyer, Adi Davis, Johnny Hamilton, Herman Hannan, Jacob Mayforth, Emmet Meyer, Matthew Meyer, Jonas Noomah, Theo Noomah, Casey Parrett, Sydney Paulino, Adella Sundmark, Drew Turner, and Trevor Waldorf.
