Record number at Ski for Women

Fresh snow, sunny skies and a lot of laughter made Superbowl Sunday's Kachemak Ski for Women the place to be for women, children and appropriately-dressed men. The eighth annual event drew a record number of skiers and raised over $2500 for the Haven House. The hayfields at Lookout Mountain ski area on Ohlson Mountain Road were filled with 120 brightly-costumed skiers, double last year's turnout.

"I'm just astounded at the creativity and generosity of the Homer community and appreciative to Mother Nature for the wonderful weather and earlier snowfall," said organizer Kris Holderied.
