Edna V. Chitwood




March 17, 1915- Feb. 1, 2011

Homer resident Edna V. Chitwood died Feb. 1, 2011, at South Peninsula Hospital Long Term Care. She was 95.

Mrs. Chitwood was born March 17, 1915, in Jeffersonville, Ga. She was a lunch worker for the Florida Education System.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Kissimmee, Fla. and enjoyed cards, casinos, singing and traveling in the motorhome. In 2004, she moved to Anchor Point to live with her daughter.

"Mom loved to sing the old songs from her childhood. She had special songs for all of her children," her daughter said.

Mrs. Chitwood was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Chitwood; grandsons, Chad Starling and Thomas Busby; and son-in-law, Billy Ellis.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Joe Busolits of Allentown, Pa., Emma Jo and Herb Brewer of Jonesboro, Ga., Wilma Jean Ellis of Anchor Point, and Effie Clare Boyd of Fern River, Ill.; son, James Chitwood, Gaston, S.C.; grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Lynda Busolits, Jaime and Nanette Busolits, and Joseph A. and Sheri Busolits, all of Allentown, Pa., Theresa and Wayne Howard of Fayetteville, Ga., Brenda and Roger Mix of Minnewaukan, N.D., Tammy and Chuck Goolesby of Douglasville, Ga., Sandra and Ernest Reid of Alpharetta, Ga., Wanda Brewer and Robert and Sharon Brewer, all of Jonesboro, Ga., Renee and Darrell Bronson of Anchor Point, Tanya Busby and Wayne Ayers of Kissimmee, Fla., Tim and Lori Ellis of Lakeland, Fla., Gary and Laura Ellis and Mindy Cole, all of Orlando, Fla., Eddie Ray Andrews of Altamonte, Fla., Serena Norrell of Norman, Okla., and James Chitwood Jr. of Texas; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Howard and Delores Chitwood of Mountain Home, Idaho.

Graveside services will be held at Osceola Memory Gardens in Kissimmee, Fla.
