The Kachemak Nordic Ski Club's Ski for Women event on Sunday brought in dry skies and colorful costumes to Ohlson Mountain. More than 80 skiers raised $1,400 for the South Peninsula Haven House.

"It was a very successful event and we were pleased to see so many people come out despite the unpredictable weather," said event organizer Kris Holderied. "The creativity in the costumes kept the spectators happy, too."

Awards in the event are only given for the best dressed, not the first one across the finish line. Costume categories include individual, pairs and attached group, won by those skiing together as the High Tunnel Hybrid. The trail also saw wild salmon, fairy dust flyers, a dragon, a ladybug and a fortune teller.
