Daniel Levine, 90, died Jan. 28, 2012, of natural causes at Friendship Terrace Assisted Living Center in Homer. A memorial service was held Jan. 31, 2012, at Friendship Terrace. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Harbor Lawn Cemetery-Mount Olive, Costa Mesa, Calif., where he will be interred next to his late wife, Henrietta Levine.
Mr. Levine was born Sept. 13, 1921, to Harry and Goldie Levine in Troy, N.Y. He was raised in Troy and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He met his wife, Henrietta Fodor, at a USO dance, and they married in 1948. They had two children, Eugene A. Jim Levine and Adrienne E. Levine. After the war, Mr. Levine studied electrical engineering at Northeastern University, Boston. He worked as an electrical engineer with Metcalf & Eddy and Stone & Webster in Boston. In the late 1980s he moved to California, retiring in 1990 from Scotsman Mobile Units in Long Beach, Calif. He was a member of Temple Beth Shalom of Long Beach, Calif.
Mr. Levine moved from California to Homer in 2006 to live closer to his children, Jim, of Homer, and his daughter, Adrienne, of Anchorage. Mr. Levine enjoyed classical music, especially listening to the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra concerts in Homer.
He was a good husband and father who always provided for his family, his children said.
Mr. Levine was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Henrietta Levine.
He is survived by his son, Eugene A. Jim Levine, and his daughter-in-law, Susan Post, both of Homer; and his daughter, Adrienne E. Levine, of Anchorage.
