Relay For Life begins planning

After showing off its "The Magic of Relay" float in the Homer Winter Carnival parade Saturday, Relay For Life of Homer will hold its kick-off gathering at Alice's Champagne Palace from 1-5 p.m. This is an opportunity to learn more about the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life. Sign-up for individuals, teams and cancer survivors to participate in the June 8-9 event will be available, as well as tips to begin fundraising. Luminaria bags also will be available for a donation so individuals can decorate them to remember loved ones lost to cancer or to honor survivors and individuals battling the disease. Finger foods and a cake will be provided. The kick-off is an opportunity to meet Marilyn Parrett, event chair, Tammy Ackerman, co-chair, and others who are interested in and helping "save more lives...faster."
